Listen...

I was riding in the car with Mason yesterday on our way home from work and picking him up from Mimi's house. He was sitting quietly in the back seat, as we were listening to the local Christian music station. The DJ quoted a scripture that I loved, so in agreement I said, "Thank you Jesus." Mason quickly asked me, "What?" I said, "Nothing, I was talking out loud." "What did you say Mom? Who were you talking to?" He asked. "Oh I was just agreeing with the lady and praising God. I was talking to God." I said. "You talk to God?" he asked. "Of course I do. All the time. Do you talk to God? You know you can talk to Him anytime and about anything, right?" I explained. "Oh yeh", he replied, "I talk to God all the time too. And you know what Mom? I heard His voice once too." "You did?" I said, trying not to jump out of my seat with joy. "How do you know it was God's voice?" I asked curiously. "Mom", he said, "I would know His voice from anywhere". I sat in awe...speechless... It made me think about all the times I have heard God's voice, then doubted that I had heard anything at all. It's difficult at times, to distinguish between my own thoughts and God's voice... But, shouldn't I know His voice? Beyond a shadow of a doubt. Shouldn't I recognize my Father's voice speaking to me, whispering to me, as clear as can be. I should know His voice from anywhere...just like He knows mine. The Word teaches us that the more we seek Him, the more we will know Him. 2 Peter 1:3 "As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a Godly life." Maybe I doubt His voice at times, because I am too busy listening to my own. Whatever is Lord of your life, will be the voice that you hear. John 3:30 "He must become greater, I must become less." Sometimes we don't hear God's voice, because we don't get close enough to Him to hear it. James 4:8 " Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." I wonder...what have I missed by not fully opening my heart and spirit to hear God speak to me? I wonder...what will I hear from Him if I truly listen...seeking Him with every fiber of my being. I wonder... Revelation 2:17 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it."
Thanks for stopping by.
