Wires and cubes.

My husband and I have been married for almost twenty years now. Wow...it's amazing that we are both still alive. LOL If I said it was a perfect twenty years then I would be lieing, and if you have read any of my blogs you know that God has delivered us from a failing marriage on more than one occassion. It's hard at times to get it all right. Is that even possible? Is it possible to live in harmony with someone who is wired totally different than you? I began a class a couple of years ago...a marriage class that is. The speaker talked about how men and women are wired totally different. Lovely. Women's wires all connect to eachother and are linked to their emotions (go figure), while men's wires are all separate and have their own little boxes for each thing that their mind thinks about, which means they can only focus on one thing at a time. (that explains alot!) I hope I got that right. Any who...he spoke on how we have to come to terms with that within one another. We have to accept that about eachother. He has to get me and I have to get him. Really? Well...I never finished the class. Maybe I should have. Maybe I would have gotten more details about all those wires and how to fight the urge of just rippping my husband's wires completely out...
I've come up with my own theory for now...
I think, marriage is like a rubix cube. It is complexed, with many sides. All of the colors represent the different areas a marriage has to overcome to fit together right. You with me so far? By the way...I can't back this up with any scientific information...it's just my own personal thoughts. The thing is, once you work hard to get one side put together, where all of the same color matches up, whether it be the red side or the green side...you still have all the other sides that are a huge mess and all jumbled up. Yep...more work. I've always been a "let it roll of your back like a duck" kind of woman. I do not like confrontation, so I would just rather have a quick fix and get on with the next issue at hand. Not always the healthiest way to deal with life. ( I wouldn't recommend it.) It also explains why I was always the one breaking apart the rubix cube and piecing it all back together to where all the sides were perfectly matched. Yep...that's me...the rubix cube cheater. Always looking for a way to fix it quickly and move on...just keep moving on.
And of course...I've always been the one who secretly resents those people who say that they have a perfect marriage and that they have never had an argument. How is THAT possible? Are they for real?! It also explains why I also resented the smart kid down my street, who could put the rubix cube perfectly together with his own mind, not having to break it all apart and disect it like I did. These two scenarios put me in an emotional pickle...jealousy. Not good. Not at all.
To finish my theory on the rubix cube, I have to mention the fact that I find it ironic that their is a white side to the cube. When the cube is all jumbled up, there are a total of nine white pieces scattered throughout the cube. White, in biblical meaning, represents purity and righteousness. Righteousness and purity are what we find in Christ. In Him we find righteousness. In Him our hearts are made pure. White also represents refinement. Refinement means improvement, elaboration, to make better. Wow...so even the rubix cube knows we can't get it completely right without the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We need the power of Jesus Christ in our lives to make our marriages fit together right. To be better. And even at times, when our lives are jumbled up and we are trying to make the pieces fit within our marriage and attempt to get at least one side right...there He is...scattered throughout...on every side and in every situation with us. He knows we aren't perfect and He knows we will never get "it" perfect, but as long as we keep Him in the midst of our "cube" (marriage), it will all come together like it should. The last meaning of white that I found was the best one I think. White means victory!! We will be victorious. In all aspects of life and our marriage, as long as Christ is in the midst of it all. I want to be victorious! We can't even come close to perfection without Him. But even with our flaws, jumbled sides and different colors, with Jesus...we have the perfect union. Just like the rubix cube wouldn't be complete without all of it's little white tiles...neither will our marriage be complete without the pure saving grace of Christ.
I also found it neat that the color Ivory...which is a shade from white, represents "fine craftsmanship". Let's face it...some of us oldies and marriage veterans are a little off white after many years of marriage. A little tainted, a little worn out...you know who you are. But it goes to show you, that "fine craftsmanship" even in a marriage, takes time and patience...like crafting a valuable piece of art. We are God's craftsmanship! And even through the troubles of life, the struggles of marriage and the scars from past hurts...His love can wash us white as snow. All the time...everytime.
Thank you Jesus for Your love and grace. Thank you for putting Your everlasting stamp on our marriage and always revealing Yourself to us. Continue to help us grow towards You and one another. In all things we give you Glory!!
I Peter 3:1-4, 7 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husband's so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.

Hebrews 12:1-2 ...and let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus on whom our faith depends from start to finish.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
