Always.

Night before last, we had some really bad weather around our house.
The wind became so intense that it began to shake the windows and doors to our house. The kids came running from all different directions in the house. They all hate bad weather. I opened the glass door to our backyard, and noticed that many branches were flying around and the wind was howling very loudly. Our little dog began to cry and bark, signaling that something was happening, or about to happen.
I gathered up the kids and we got into the bathroom located in the center of our house. We shut the door and waited in silence as the worst of the weather passed us.
A few minutes later, we went back into the living room area to listen to the weather report. The wind was not as strong, but the rain was pouring down in buckets.
The kids were all gathered around me, like little ducks following their momma.
(smiley face)
Mason reaches out his hand to me and says, "Mom, I think we need to pray."
"Good idea", I said reaching out for the girls to gather with us to pray.
We all held hands and prayed a prayer of protection over our house, our property and all the surrounding houses and people in the midst of the severe storm.
The weather lasted for a while, and we all decided it was best to stay in the same room, just in case it were to get bad again.
(And of course, because we were all still a little scared.)
We watched the television waiting on the latest weather report.
It eventually passed and the kids began scattering in different directions.
It was just Mason and I sitting on the couch, when he turned to me, grabbed my hand and said, "We've been blessed Mom."
"We have?" I said.
"Yep. God saved us from the weather." He said.
"Yes. You are right." I answered.
"Yep. God heard our prayer for help. He took it in." He said.
"He sure did." I said smiling.
He sat quietly for a second, then turned to me and said, "He always takes us in, huh Mom."
"Yes Baby. Always." I said, trying not to tear up.
He then scooted closer towards me on the couch, and gave me a nice big hug.
I think the moment had gotten us both a little emotional.
To have a childlike faith...
He ALWAYS takes us in.
Always.
Hebrews 13:5
Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.
Luke 15:3-7
Then Jesus told them this parable; "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not repent."

  1. Something very similar happened to us about three years ago. It was 1 AM and I was awoken to the howl of what I'm sure was a tornado and the rain was beating down on the windows. I ran to gather up my two babies while the tornado ripped our roof off and sucked out three of our windows! That was the first time in my adult life that I fell to my knees and praised the LORD aloud!! I knew in my heart it was HIM that kept us safe!

  2. Savannah...thank you for sharing that. I got chills when you said it was the first time in your adult life that you fell to your knees and praised the Lord. Wow! What a powerful moment. Dana...I know, me too!
